THE GATHERING Get Snowed in; Begin Recording First Track For New Album

November 26, 2005

THE GATHERING frontwoman Anneke van Giersbergen has posted the following message regarding the first week of studio work on their forthcoming album:

"What a day yesterday was... As we were locked up in the confinement of our quiet little church, the world outside was raging. The Dutch weather surprised us with a snowy storm. We were completely snowed in. Our friend who came to visit us had to stay overnight and our cook got stuck in traffic while coming over here. Luckily, Danyael, the director shooting a documentary of our studio process, is an amazing cook, so we had a lovely dinner. In the evening we went out for a long walk and enjoyed the quiet streets after everybody returned home safe and sound from their snowy-traffic endeavours.

"Today we will start recording our first song. Exciting!!!!!"

THE GATHERING are currently in the studio — a professional home-made studio built within a church in the small town of Maurik — recording their ninth studio album with producer Attie Bauw, with whom they previously worked on 1998's "How To Measure A Planet?"

The album is scheduled to surface sometime in the spring on the band's own label Psychonaut Records (available on The End Records in North America),with a tour to follow around the same time in South America and the U.S.
